Dr. Hopcroft is a world class scientist and is a Turing Award winner. He has been a member of the National Science Board, Commission on Physical Sciences, Mathematics, and Applications NRC, National Academy of Engineering. Fellow: American Academy of Arts and Sciences; American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS); Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE); (Charter) ACM, Member: SIAM Board of Trustees; Scientific Advisory Committee for David and Lucile Packard Foundation; Sloan Research Fellowship Committee; ACM Council. His educational degrees include a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. Since 1994, he has been in the area of Design and Analysis of Geometric Algorithms.
