*Note: This is a Web-based course. The class do not meet at a specific time. Course materials for a class session
will be posted and finalized at 9:00AM Tuesdays, and homework assignments are due before 9:00AM
of next class sessions unless specified otherwise on the Syllabus page.
LIS 7008 has two tearching modes: face-to-face and Web-based, and usually rotate every semester. It is better learned
by face-to-face because technological concepts and procedures are better learned face-to-face. If you live close to Baton Rouge, try to
take it when the face-to-face mode is offered.
This is a core course of the MLIS program; it aims to fill
American Library Association's technological requirements on information professionals and
to lay a technological foundation to many advanced courses at SLIS, therefore is very intensive and extensive.
If you feel you are technologically very weak, please talk to your advisor about taking LIS 2001 Information Technologies
first. Slides will typically be posted at Monday evenings; a homework assignment is due
before the beginning of its next class session.
